About
Working with jmvo communications, you get the undivided attention of a senior communications specialist and writer. That’ll be me.
I’ll work with you independently or in-house as part of your team, bringing inspiration, attention to detail and professionalism. And, having lived in six countries so far, a slightly multinational outlook, a passion for cycling (I am Dutch, after all) and for sharing my love of the mountain lifestyle… sustainably.
Depending on your needs, I also have a network of graphic designers, photographers and translators that I work with and can recommend.
Here is the formal bit:
Marita van Oldenborgh worked for several years as a journalist and editor for McGraw-Hill and freelance in the UK and US. Her articles have appeared in a variety of newspapers and magazines including CFO, International Business, The Daily Telegraph, Time and the Economist Intelligence Unit. When senior executives she interviewed started to ask her to write for them, she moved into corporate communications.
Since then, she has written scores of speeches for senior multinational executives, written and project-managed internal and external communications projects, for print, web and intranet, in-house and independently, individually and as part of a team. Clients have included A.T. Kearney, Unilever, IFF, A.I.S.E. and others.
In parallel, she has rather-more-years-than-she-cares-to-mention of experience as senior analyst and report writer for Echo Research (now Ebiquity), a market leader in reputation analysis, media measurement and stakeholder research, working on major accounts including Airbus, BP, Johnson & Johnson, McDonald’s, Microsoft, Unicef, UPS, Walt Disney Company and Whitbread. This gives her great insights into the impact of communications in the media and what works and what doesn’t work when it comes to reputation-building.
Now that she’s living in the Alps, Marita is also working more and more with ski resorts and mountain brands – and their PR agencies – on communications, content and media relations, specialising in Dutch and English-language media.
She has a BA Joint Honours degree in Economics and Politics from Durham University, a graduate diploma in journalism at the London College of Printing, and speak English, Dutch, French and rusty Italian. When not outdoors skiing, cycling, hiking or surfing, she loves travelling (by train if possible) and is an inveterate armchair sports fan, especially of Arsenal football team. She and her husband are hoping to renovate an old farm ecologically to tread as lightly as possible in these beautiful mountains.
She looks out at a glacier from her office window and it never tires but, yes, it is receding.
